What can you say about Mel Loew? She’s definitely not the delicate, emo vision you might have when you think of what an artist is. Think Janeane Garofalo meets Xena Warrior Princess and there you are. That’s Mel.
Mel’s day-to-day life is full of more dullness then imaginable! She fills her time with mundane activities such as shooting her Colt 45, which was lovingly given to her by her father on Christmas when she was 18 years old, B.A.S.E. jumping off the 876 foot high New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia, and hurling herself from a perfectly good plane because Mel thought it would make for a fun birthday.
Somehow, in the mists of utter boredom, Mel seems to find the time to make art. She is a truly remarkable painter who can convey the most delicate nuances of human emotion in a single brush stroke. Her work portrays the fragile mental condition and impassioned psychological state that defines human relations. Thought provoking and edgy, Mel’s work is like none other. The work must be viewed live and in person to grasp its full effect.
